How to tell if you have heated wipers on your Tesla Model 3/Y (if you don’t have 2022.4.5 yet)

Tesla started turning on a brand new feature in some of their cars this week – heated wipers.

Referred to internally as Heated Wiper Park or Windshield Wiper Defrost in the release notes, the new feature has apparently been in a production at Fremont for a month or more.

We have received reports from both Model 3 and Model Y owners in Canada who have taken delivery in January and only saw the feature activated with the 2022.4.5 software update earlier this week.

If you have a new Model 3/Y and haven’t yet received the update, there is an easy way to see if you have the required hardware.

Simply remove the frunk cover and if you have these three cables near the firewall (the part of the car’s frame right under the windshield), you will soon have heated wipers. (via Reddit)

Despite the name, it is not the wipers themselves that are heated, but rather the area of the windshield where the wipers sit when not active, meaning no retrofit for existing owners.

Heated Wiper Park was first introduced in China just last month, with it already appearing on both Model Y and Model 3 cars built at Giga Shanghai.
