Porsche has unveiled the latest iteration of its Taycan model, and while the 2025 Porsche Taycan might not come with many significant changes on the exterior, it brings substantial improvements under the hood that enhance its driving range, charging capabilities, and power output.
Performance has always been a hallmark of Porsche, and the new Taycan models do not disappoint. The Taycan Turbo S, for instance, now generates 938 horsepower, enabling it to reach 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds, making it not only one of the most powerful Porsches ever produced but also one of the quickest production cars available today.
One of the most notable updates for the new Taycan models, available in sedan and Cross Turismo body styles, is the leap in charge rate from 270 kW to 320 kW, allowing the car to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.
Moreover, the range has seen a substantial increase. While EPA figures have not been confirmed, the Taycan is now capable of achieving up to 678km (421) miles on a single charge based on the WLTP rating schedule, a 35% improvement over its predecessor. During recent real-world testing in California, the new Taycan was able to travel 587km (364 miles) on a full charge.
Porsche has also made notable design and technological updates to the Taycan. Minor styling tweaks have been made to enhance its aesthetic appeal, including sharper front-end designs and new headlights. Inside, the Taycan benefits from the latest version of Apple CarPlay, additional infotainment options, and a new push-to-pass button offering a 70 kW boost of power for up to 10 seconds.
In addition to these performance and technological advancements, Porsche has introduced a new air suspension system, Porsche Active Ride, designed to maintain a level ride during acceleration, cornering, and braking. This addition underscores Porsche’s commitment to not only leading in EV performance but also in providing a comfortable and dynamic driving experience.
The Taycan is positioned as a premium offering in the EV market. In Canada pricing starts at $135,600 for the base Taycan 4S, $196,800 for the Taycan Turbo, and $236,100 for the Taycan Turbo S. These prices are higher than compared to the previous model year, but Porsche says that the enhanced performance, extended range, and improved charging capabilities justify the premium.
The first units are expected to arrive at dealerships this spring, with the first deliveries in Canada expected to start this summer.
