It is Thursday night, which means Tesla is updating their website. One of the bigger changes is to the Model 3, with all variants now including a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats as standard equipment.
The change is noted on the Design Studio under the ‘Interior & Convenience’ detailed descriptions.
Until now, only the Long Range (LR) and Performance variants included the features.
The Standard Range Plus (SR+), now called the Rear-Wheel Drive Model 3, has always had heated rear seats installed from the factory, but has been software locked.
Tesla added a software upgrade last year, allowing owners to unlock the heated rear seats for $400 CAD.
The upgrade is still available in the mobile app.
With the change, the big question now is will recent buyers of the RWD Model 3 be able to upgrade to receive the features free of charge. There have been rumours that a software upgrade was going to come that would unlock both for cars built as far back as April 2021.
