The Government of Canada continued their string of announcements on EV chargers, this time in British Columbia and Ottawa. #EVWeekinCanada has been busy, with announcements across the country via local MP’s.
In Surrey, Surrey Centre MP Randeep Sarai announced $2.6 million in federal funding for EV chargers in British Columbia. The funding will provide the province with 79 EV charging stations in Surrey, Langley and Richmond.
In addition, HTEC received funding to install two hydrogen refuelling stations, one in Surrey and one in Victoria. Partners in the EV chargers include the Clean BC Electric Program, First West Credit Union, and Central City Ownership Group.
In addition, in Ottawa, Minister Marie-France Lalonde of Orleans announced a $50,000 investment with the City of Ottawa. With a combination of municipal and federal funding, Orleans will get an additional public EV charger.
The Federal Government is in the middle of a blitz of EV charging infrastructure announcements. With over $1 billion so far invested in charging infrastructure, the Feds continue to install and fund EV infrastructure and push towards the net-zero goal in 2050.
