As part of their commitment to sustainability, the College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, British Columbia has installed new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for staff and students.
The two new level 2 charging stations are located at the college’s main campus in the parking lot adjacent to the Aboriginal Gathering Place. They are operated on the ChargePoint network and according to Plugshare pay parking is required.

Anticipating an increase in EV adoption among both students and staff at the college, Facilities Director Allan Knibbs says this installation will be followed by more in the future.
“This is something we have been interested in doing for some time. As demand for electric vehicles increases amongst our students and employees, I anticipate we will install more charging stations at our campuses,” he said in a statement.
Along with the EV charging stations, the College of the Rockies has also installed a solar wall on one of the Trades buildings. Solar technology has also been implemented on some of the student housing buildings and the Kootenay Centre roof.
