The Tesla Model S and Model X both currently have adjustable air suspension setups, allowing owners to adjust the ride height at the touch of a button. Even though CEO Elon Musk has squashed previous rumours a similar setup may be coming to the Model 3 or Model Y, evidence of the feature has once again reappeared.
Spotted in the last owner’s manual update by Tesla hacker @greentheonly, the vehicle start up screen may soon include a new icon. Located just above the emergency brake icon in the left image below, a new vehicle icon with both up and down arrows is included.
As mentioned, this isn’t the first time an official Tesla document has hinted at this feature. Early in 2020 the Tesla Parts Catalogue for the Model 3 referenced an air suspension part. Musk quickly responded to the news on Twitter, saying “No air suspension planned for 3/Y.”
Despite just, less than two months later an online training manual for the Model Y renewed the rumours. In the “Electrical Systems Overview” part of the manual, it showed the Model Y’s front controller as having a function of “Tesla Air Suspension (TAS)”.
Whether this latest hint turns into reality remains to be seen. The Model 3 just underwent a refresh, and the Model Y has only been on the market less than a year. Tesla is well known for making continuous improvements though.
We’ll have to wait and see if Musk debunks this latest rumour.
