Tesla preparing to open first location in Nikola Tesla’s home country of Croatia

Tesla’s expansion across Europe continues as the automaker has posted job openings for a new location in Croatia, the home country of the automaker’s namesake, Nikola Tesla.

The two job postings, first discovered by Reddit user u/benchpr3ss, were for a Sales & Delivery Manager and Tesla Advisor in Zagreb, Croatia.

The two jobs were published on Tesla’s Careers website on September 2, but as of the time of publication, only the Tesla Advisor position is still open.

According to the details of the posting, the automaker is preparing for their “exciting new entry in to Croatia.” Despite not having an official presence in the country, there are many happy Tesla owners in the country who have imported them from neighbouring countries.

In September last year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he hoped to have the first location in Croatia (and several other European countries) by early 2020, saying with the move they will finally be able to offer Tesla vehicles in Nikola’s Tesla’s countries of origin.

Tesla is also currently preparing to expand into Israel. Due to COVID-19 and the inability for staff to travel for training, the opening has been delayed. As the beginning of operations in the country nears, Tesla is reportedly in discussions with several insurance and financial companies to bring Tesla’s in-house insurance product to Israel.
