Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD)could be legal in Slovakia within days. Transport Minister Jozef Ráž says the last steps are nearly done, which would make Slovakia the ninth EU country to allow it.
In a video shared on social media on Wednesday, Ráž said Slovakia will formally recognize the Netherlands‘ provisional approval of FSD, granted earlier this year.
The move would allow Tesla owners in Slovakia to use FSD without waiting for an EU-wide authorization.
“Once this letter is delivered, the FSD system will be available for use here as well. But remember: you’re still the driver, and you’re responsible for the car. We’re doing this for you,” Ráž said.
The minister also pointed to potential safety benefits as a reason for supporting the technology.
“Data shows that these cars reduce the accident rate and that’s exactly what we’re aiming for,” he said.

Tesla FSD Continues Expanding Across Europe
Eight EU countries already allow the system: Belgium, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Slovenia.
The approvals all come from a provisional authorization issued by Dutch regulator RDW on April 10, allowing individual EU countries to recognize the technology while broader European approval remains under consideration.
Despite the growing number of countries supporting FSD, several major markets, including France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, have yet to authorize its use.
Germany has recently signalled support for moving the approval process forward. On October 6, Germany’s transport ministry said talks with Tesla in September had produced an understanding: FSD would be capped at 10% over the posted speed limit, with the driver remaining responsible.
The EU committee met again on October 6 and despite earlier indications it might approve FSD on that date, didn’t vote. December is now the earliest chance for bloc-wide approval.
