Tesla rolls out Model 3 upgrades in the U.S., but Canada still left out

Tesla is bringing another round of upgrades to the Model 3, this time for the U.S., Puerto Rico and Mexico.

The changes were announced by Tesla Thursday evening, just one day after we reported on similar changes in China and other Asia-Pacific markets, but one feature is notable absent.

According to a post from Tesla North America on X, every trim of the new Model 3 now gets the larger 16-inch HD center touchscreen, replacing the previous 15.4-inch display.

The larger display is the same size as the one introduced on the Model Y earlier this year and rolled out to Model 3 in China this week. The upgrade was also first spotted in Tesla’s backend code in February.

There are some performance improvements as well. The Model 3 Premium AWD can now accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, a substantial improvement from the previous 4.2 seconds.

Its range remains unchanged at 346 miles (about 557 km).

The Model 3 Performance also gets a black headliner and a modest range boost, climbing 2.3% from 309 miles (497 km) to 316 miles (509 km). Peak power has also increased to 528 hp, compared with the 510 hp Tesla listed when the updated Performance launched in 2024. Its 2.9-second 0-60 mph time remains unchanged.

Tesla hasn’t explained what hardware changes are behind the additional power and range, or whether any of the improvements can make their way to previously delivered vehicles. U.S. Pricing is also unchanged.

Despite all these changes, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) is still missing. The feature was announced for Model 3 and expanded to all Model Y tricks in China and other markets the night before, so its absence is a bit strange.

Another thing that isn’t changing is the white interior, at least for now. U.S. buyers can still select black and white, while the new Zen Grey option introduced overseas hasn’t appeared in the U.S. configurator.

Tesla hasn’t announced these changes for Canada. The company’s announcement names only the U.S., Puerto Rico and Mexico. Canada’s Model 3 comes from Giga Shanghai, but Tesla hasn’t said when these updates will reach Canadian orders.
