Tesla has landed another significant Semi order, with IMC Logistics announcing plans to add 50 of the electric Class 8 trucks to its fleet in California.
IMC Logistics describes itself as the largest asset-based marine drayage operator in North America, with more than 2,700 trucks and over 50 locations across the continent. The company confirmed the Tesla Semi deployment this week during the 2026 Intermodal EXPO in Long Beach, where it already had one of its trucks on display.
The order will include a mix of Standard and Long Range Tesla Semis. IMC plans to use the Standard Range version, with a range of 325 miles (523 km) for drayage operations within California, while the Long Range trucks will travel between Southern California and destinations farther inland with its range of up to 500 miles (804 km).
The company did not announce how many of each variant it purchased.
The Tesla Semis won’t be IMC’s first alternative-fuel trucks. The company already operates battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell trucks in California, along with trucks powered by renewable diesel. IMC says using several technologies allows it to match different trucks with specific routes and customer requirements.
“We are focused on making sustainability attainable in day-to-day drayage operations,” said Jim Gillis, Pacific Region President at IMC Logistics. “That means taking a blended approach rather than relying on a single technology. The addition of 50 Tesla Semis strengthens that strategy as well as allows IMC to establish zero-emission service for long haul lanes.”
The deal adds to a growing order book for the Tesla Semi as the company ramps up production at its new high-volume factory in Nevada.
Earlier this year, WattEV announced an order for 370 Tesla Semis in a deal worth nearly US$100 million. That record was recently surpassed by Swedish transport company Einride, which last month announced plans to purchase 500 Tesla Semis for its U.S. operations.
Tesla is also preparing to expand the Semi beyond North America. The company recently unveiled its European version of the truck, which offers up to 550 km (342 miles) of range, ahead of planned European deliveries in 2027.
