One of the most requested Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) features appears to be nearing release. Elon Musk says owners will soon be able to assign designated parking spots, allowing FSD to remember exactly where to park at frequently visited destinations.
The update came after Tesla owner Bob Derise shared on X one of the most common frustrations with FSD’s current parking behaviour.
“I know I may be asking for a lot, but I wish I could set my destination in the work parking lot. I have a designated parking spot, every morning I disengaged so I can park in my specific spot.”
Musk replied with a short but encouraging response.
“It’s coming soon.”
The comment builds on remarks Musk made earlier this summer when he revealed Tesla was developing a system that would allow FSD to learn drivers’ preferred parking locations at frequently visited destinations. Rather than simply navigating to a generic parking area, FSD is expected to remember a driver’s preferred driveway at home, assigned parking stall at work, or even a specific school drop-off location.
The parking memory feature also fits into Tesla’s broader push toward personalized FSD. Just this month Musk has revealed that upcoming FSD updates will allow the system to learn from individual driver preferences.
Musk has previously said parking is “by far the biggest reason” drivers disengage FSD, while noting that critical safety interventions are “extremely rare.” Improving parking behaviour has therefore become one of Tesla’s key areas of focus as it continues refining the end-to-end driving experience.
