An attempt to drive across Canada using only Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) is off to a strong start, with the team completing more than 1,300 kilometres on Day 1 without a single disengagement or intervention.
The group, led by David Moss, Devin Olsen, and Spencer Scott, began their journey in Vancouver’s Horseshoe Bay in British Columbia on Sunday with the goal of reaching Halifax, Nova Scotia using Tesla’s FSD v14.3.3 software.
By the end of the first day, the team had reached Medicine Hat, Alberta after covering 1,310 km (814 miles).
“Yesterday we made it from Vancouver, BC to Medicine Hat, Alberta, covering 814 miles / 1,310 km with zero disengagements or interventions,” Spencer wrote in an overnight update posted to X.
Perhaps the most challenging part of the day came when the group came upon a temporary automated construction stop sign. Even though the sign was in the upright position, indicating it was not active, the car still stopped itself. After an approaching vehicle passed, the Model 3 did pull off by itself, maintaining the no intervention streak.

An automated construction stop sign was in the upright position and FSD read it as an actual stop sign, so the car stopped.

It wasn’t all business though, with many Tesla fans who were tracking their progress meeting up with the group at some of their Supercharger stops along the way.

For Day 2, the group has set an ambitious goal of driving 1,600 km (1,000 miles) in a single day as they continue east from Alberta.
The drive is also being tracked live through a custom tracker on the FSD Database platform, allowing followers to monitor the team’s progress in near real time.
