SpaceX is asking its Starlink subscribers to pay more. The company has raised prices on its monthly plans and even Standby Mode, according to information on its Canadian and US websites.

Every monthly subscription to the satellite internet service has increased by at least $5. In the U.S.,the base residential plan, capped at 100 Mbps, now costs $55, up from $50, while the 200 Mbps package now costs $85, from $80. The Roam 100 GB plan also costs $55, instead of $50.

The Residential Max and Roam Unlimited plans added $10 each, costing $130 and $175 per month, respectively.

SpaceX even jacked up the price of Standby Mode, which pauses subscription without ending the contract. It now costs $10, an increase of 100 percent.

Customers, however, can continue to pay $80 per month for the Roam 300 GB package, which SpaceX recently introduced.

SpaceX has also reviewed Starlink prices for the Canadian market. The Residential 100 Mbps plan now costs CA$75 per month, up from CA$70, while the Residential 200 Mbps plan is now priced at CA$115, adding CA$5.

The Residential Max plan will cost subscribers CA$150 per month, an addition of CA$10.

The new prices kick in from June 18.

Justifying the changes, SpaceX pointed out that prices have remained unchanged for years. It also stated that the higher prices would fund improvement to the service.

“Pricing has remained unchanged for most Residential customers for the past several years, and strong demand for Starlink reflects the value customers continue to see in the service. This adjustment supports ongoing improvements and investment in affordable, high-performance products and services as global operating costs continue to rise.”

The new Canadian prices come just days after the latest Starlink promo ended, which saw introductory prices as low as CA$39 per month.
