Track Mode coming soon to the Performance Model Y

The Model 3 recently received a new “Track Mode” via a free over-the-air (OTA) software update earlier this year.

Elon Musk confirmed today the Performance Model Y will soon get the same feature.

Track Mode gives drivers the ability to see the g-force through corners, as well as the temperature of the tires, motors and battery pack.

You are also able to track your acceleration and braking stats, along with video of your laps that you can analyze after your track session.

Drivers can also adjust the balance of the car to favour a full rear-wheel drive layout, how much traction control you want to enable, and how much regenerative braking the car has.

When Tesla released Track Mode, they also released a new Track Package available for purchase through the Tesla Shop.

The package includes “track-focused” brake fluid, high performance brake pads, and the 20” Zero-G Performance Wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

It is not known if Tesla will release a similar package for the Model Y, or if this package will be changed slightly to also work with the electric SUV.

Here are a couple of videos showcasing Track Mode in a Model 3.
