In-car purchases and more discovered in source code of Tesla software update 2021.12.25

Many new and exciting Tesla features have been discovered before they officially go live by taking a close look at the source code of current software updates. As the automaker builds these features, they are included in the update but not activated until they are ready to be released to the fleet.

The latest discoveries were found in the 2021.12.25 software update by none other than Tesla hacker @greentheonly.

After searching through the code for any changes, green found that owners will soon be able to purchase upgrades directly from within the vehicle. These upgrades include things like Full Self-Driving (FSD), Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) in regions where it is still available, and activating the rear heated seats in the Standard Range Plus (SR+) Model 3.

While green didn’t mention it as a possibility the Acceleration Boost is another upgrade that is a prime candidate to be included as an in-car purchase.

Currently these upgrades can only be purchased through your Tesla account on your mobile device or computer.

Green was also able to find other changes in the source code including:

  • New language support for Russian, Hindi, Greek, Croatian, Finnish
  • Autoraise suspension on rough terrain
  • Some cars get cold battery performance improvements
  • Perf 2021 Model3 on 19″ wheels got a battery range display improvement
  • Removed toybox access in Hong Kong due to Gov regulations
  • Powerwall coordination

You can check out all the changes in the Twitter thread below.
