Watch a Tesla Model 3 get sideswiped at high speed and barely move

We all know Tesla vehicles are one of the safest, if not the safest vehicles on the road today. The Model 3’s impressive safety record was put on full display in this recent accident caught on TeslaCam.

The video begins from the rear camera of the Model 3, where we see a pair of headlights quickly approaching in the distance. It appears as though the driver of the Nissan wasn’t paying attention as they pull into the passing lane at the last second to avoid a collision.

The maneuver seems to have been too little too late. The driver tries to avoid hitting the concrete divider on the left and appears to overcorrect, hitting the Model 3 in the right rear quarter panel.

Despite the high speed pit-style maneuver that police often use to end high speed chases, the Model 3 barely moves and is able to safely pull over to the side of the road.

According to the user who posted the video on Reddit, the Model 3 was on Autopilot at the time of the accident and was able to correct the steering before the driver quickly took control.
