Tesla Supercharger planned for Sandown Park Shopping Center in North Saanich [British Columbia]

Tesla owners on Vancouver Island will soon be getting another Supercharger, and it will be located in North Saanich on Saanich Peninsula.

Vancouver Island, and in particular Greater Victoria, is home to one of the largest populations of Tesla owners, per capita, in North America. Despite this, Tesla has only built one Supercharger in the city, and that was over five years ago with a 16 stall Urban (72kW) Supercharger at the Uptown Shopping Center.

Back in March Tesla announced they will be building another Supercharger near Victoria in Sidney, and now we know where it will be built. According to plans submitted to the District of North Saanich and shared by Marco on X, a 16 stall Supercharger will be built at the Sandown Park Shopping Center at 10330 McDonald Park Road.

While not an ideal location for Tesla owners in Greater Victoria, it will provided much needed relief for the Urban Supercharger at Uptown, and will serve as a convenient location for those travelling to and from the BC Ferries terminal just a few kilometers away.

According to Tesla’s Supercharger map the North Saanich (Sidney) Supercharger is scheduled to open in 2024, but given the recent layoffs to the Supercharger team in Canada, that timeline might slip in early 2025.
