Tesla app update brings telemetry to Dashcam clips saved to your phone and more

app update

Tesla has released a new update to its mobile app, bringing a handful of small improvements, along with support for some upcoming features in the 2026 Spring Update.

Unlike many app updates, the release notes for version 4.55.6 are mostly complete. Leading the way is a change to Dashcam clips, which you can now download to your phone with the recently introduced Telemetry overlay. Previously, while the extra data, like speed, steering and pedal input and FSD state, was viewable when accessing Dashcam clips on your mobile device, they were not included when you downloaded it from the app.

Another addition is support for saving sketches created in the vehicle’s built-in drawing pad. Previously confined to the car’s touchscreen, these sketches can now be stored and accessed through the mobile app, making them easier to share.

More importantly, the update also lays the groundwork for features tied to Tesla’s upcoming Spring Update, including support for custom wraps on the Model S and Model X avatar.

One new update that wasn’t included in the release notes is a change to one of Tesla’s most recognizable features. In the app, Dog Mode has been changed to Pet Mode. (via Not A Tesla App)

This is also something set to be included in the Spring Update, and once it rolls out to vehicles, the in-car display will include additional avatars, such as a cat and a hedgehog, while keeping the familiar balloon dog.

Owners will also be able to display their pet’s name, adding a more personalized touch when leaving animals in the vehicle.
