According to Tesla, Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk took no compensation in 2020. In comparison, the CEO took $23,760 in 2019.
However, according to the same filing, Finance Chief Zachary Kirkhorn took home $46.6 million in compensation. This represents a significant raise for the financial wizard, as in 2019, he took home $21.2 million.
Musk’s pay package requires Tesla to hit specific goals, including market capitalization and financial growth. The package is tied to a series of rising targets for the company. As of April, Musk qualified for his 2018 pay package, which is worth $30 billion.
In addition to the various financial filings, Tesla also added new office titles for Musk and Kirkhorn. Musk added ‘Technoking of Tesla’, and Kirkhorn added ‘Master of Coin’.
Finally, Reuters reported that Musk is the subject of a biography by Walter Isaacson. Of course, Isaacson was the author of the best-selling book on Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. There was no comment or confirmation from Tesla or Elon Musk about any information found in the filings.
