Rivian pulling Adventure Gear add-ons and adjusting order totals

It appears that Rivian is doing a total pull of their Adventure Gear option for the R1T and R1S.

In emails sent this week to reservation holders, a copy of which was shed with Drive Tesla, the company informed clients that Adventure Gear is no longer available in the Vehicle Studio and must be purchased separately.

This includes things such as:

  • Cargo Crossbars
  • All-Weather Floor Mats
  • Field Kit
  • Off-Road Recovery Kit
  • Spare Tires

The company confirmed that it would reach out to clients in 2023 with more details on purchasing these items.

They also confirmed that the Adventure Gear would ship separately if the items become available before a Rivian is delivered.

Rivian clients waiting for their R1S or R1T will also see that their order price has been adjusted if they had Adventure Gear selected when they ordered.

There is no word on when the Adventure Gear will make an appearance on their site, but as per the email, Rivian will be reaching out with more updates next year.

Although we cannot confirm this, it does appear that the removal of the optional kit could be temporary since Rivian didn’t say the pull was forever and that updates would be coming.

However, we are not sure why the change, especially for an auto manufacturer who is keen to be the off-roading EV option for the masses and promoted the Adventure Gear heavily in ad campaigns.
