Porsche expands Macan EV lineup with new trims and features

Porsche is expanding its Macan lineup, introducing two new trims, a rear-wheel drive (RWD) Macan and the more powerful Macan 4S. The automaker is also introducing some new features, like an off-road package and new paint and wheel options.

Macan RWD

The new entry-level Macan RWD is the most accessible option in the Macan lineup, starting at C$94,900/US$75,300. This model features a single electric motor located on the rear axle, producing up to 335 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque when Launch Control is activated. This setup allows the Macan RWD to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 136 mph (219km/h).

A key advantage of the RWD configuration is its reduced weight. The Macan RWD is 243 pounds lighter than its all-wheel-drive counterparts, which could translate to a longer driving range. We will find out the numbers once the EPA published them, but Porsche hints that the RWD model could achieve over 300 miles (482km) on a single charge under real-world conditions, thanks to its lighter build and efficient 100-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack.

Macan 4S

Positioned between the base Macan 4 and the high-performance Macan Turbo, Porsche is also introducing a new Macan 4S. Priced at C$106,900/US$84,900, it features a more robust rear electric motor delivering a total output of 442 horsepower, which can surge to 509 horsepower during overboost. With Launch Control, the Macan 4S can achieve a maximum torque of 578 pound-feet, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds.

Standard on the Macan 4S is Porsche’s Adaptive Air Suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which enhance driving dynamics and comfort. Rear-wheel steering and Torque Vectoring Plus are available as options, further improving handling and stability.

New Off-Road Design Package and Features

Porsche is also adding a new off-road design package for the entire Macan lineup. This package includes a redesigned front bumper that enhances the vehicle’s approach angle to 17.5 degrees, depending on the model and air suspension settings. The ground clearance is increased by 0.4 inches, providing a total of 7.6 inches in the standard setting and up to 8.8 inches at the highest setting.

Additionally, the off-road package can be customized with a new exterior color called Slate Grey Neo and a new 20-inch wheel design for the Macan S.

The 2024 Porsche Macan RWD and Macan 4S are now available for order, with deliveries expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024.
