Polestar has announced that its electric vehicles (EVs) can now access Tesla’s Supercharger network across China.
Tesla has been steadily giving access to its expansive and reliable Supercharger network to owners of other EVs over the last few years. First it was the non-Tesla Supercharger Pilot Program, which launched in Norway in 2021 and has since expanded to cover most of Europe.
The company has also given access to non-Tesla EV owners in North America with the addition of Magic Docks, or built-in CCS adapters, at select Superchargers in Canada and the US.
More recently, Ford and Rivian owners can now also access more than 15,000 Superchargers in North America with a NACS (North American Charging Standard) adapter.
While Polestar will gain access to Tesla’s Supercharger network in North America this spring, Polestar EV owners in China can use the network starting today, according to an announcement by Polestar on Weibo.
According to a video that went with the announcement, Polestar EV owners in China will be able to seamlessly access the Supercharger network through their own mobile app and in-car user interface (UI).
Late last year Polestar announced it had signed a deal with Tesla to access the Supercharger network in China, becoming the second automaker to do so after SAIC-GM. As of March 2024, Tesla operates over 1,900 Supercharger stations in China, offering more than 11,000 Supercharger posts.

Polestar isn’t relying solely on Tesla Superchargers. The company aims to build 60 of its own charging stations in the country, while at the same time gaining access to over 550,000 third-party charging posts.
