China’s NIO has delivered eight ES6 electric SUVs for police duty to the Laoshan District in Qingdao. The wrapped and outfitted cars were ready for police duty with light bars and other police equipment.
The City of Qingdao invested in EV’s to help support China’s overall carbon neutrality and carbon peak targets.
Interestingly, NIO did not publicize the event in any high-profile way. Instead, the company included the information in an article on constructing a new battery swap station in Qingdao.
Back in July, NIO signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guoxing Auto Service Center in Beijing. The deal allows NIO to sign car purchasing agreements with local Chinese central state agencies, central enterprises, and quasi-governmental organizations.
NIO did not release any information about their work with the police in public reports. However, several pictures emerged with NIO vehicles in police wraps over the past several months.
This latest delivery only further confirms their work with Chinese governmental authorities in supporting the countries carbon neutrality goals.
