New EV chargers coming to Hamilton

The Minister of National Resources, the Hon Seamus O’Regan Jr, announced a $100,000 investment to Upper Sherman MOBIL to install EV fast chargers. MOBIL stations throughout Hamilton will have two EV fast chargers. The company is contributing $107,000 for the project.

Ecohive, a local renewable energy company, handles all of the engineering, construction, and procurement of the project. The project should go live this summer, but there is no timeline or installation date set as of yet. Further to this, we do not have a confirmation of the brand, nor what the level of the chargers is going to be.

This announcement comes during #EVWeekinCanada, which is a Government of Canada awareness campaign. Funded through the Electric Vehicle and Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Deployment Initiative, these chargers join hundreds of other projects across Canada.

The Initiative is part of the government push for Canada to be at net-zero emissions by 2050. Along with their mandatory target of 100% zero-emission light-duty vehicle sales by 2035.
