Mercedes Benz premiers all-electric EQS SUV

Mercedes Benz premiered their all-new electric EQS SUV in a worldwide premiere on YouTube.

The SUV is the first that is not based on an existing internal combustion engine model and looks great.

Mercedes also uses the bespoke EV platform to allow electric adjustment for the entire second row of seats. The SUV also has air suspension and rear steering as standard. Although, we should note that you will have to pay extra if you want to increase the rear wheels’ maximum lock to 10 degrees.

The vehicle takes a lot of inspiration from the sedan, especially interior design and powertrain options. The same 56- inch Hyperscreen is available and has a tonne of new features that will make the SUV comfortable and quiet at speed.

The EQS 450+ has a 360 horsepower powertrain and a 660 km range.

The EQS 450 4Matic dual-motor option has the same 360 horsepower powertrain but has more torque for a slightly lower range of 613 km.

Finally, the EQS 580 4Matic dual-motor version has 523 horsepower and the same 613 range as the EQS 450 4Matic.

All three versions are capable of 200 kW charging, and at that speed, the battery can add 250 km of range in 15 minutes.

There is more information to come including price, top speed and 0-100 kmh acceleratioin time.

The Mercedes EQS SUV will launch in the US in Spring 2022.
