Last week Kia announced customers would be able to pre-order the upcoming EV6 on June 3. To help entice them to do so, the first 1,500 pre-orders also receive their choice of a special gift, including an Apple Watch.
In an update to their website over the weekend, the automaker has quietly announced pricing for the First Edition variant, and it is not going to be cheap.
According to Kia’s website, the EV6 First Edition has a MSRP of $58,500 USD ($70,618 CAD). Pricing for Canada has not been revealed.
That price point puts it just below the Performance Tesla Model Y, which in the US starts at $60,990 USD and outperforms the EV6 in almost every category.
The high price shouldn’t come as a big surprise. Kia announced pricing in the United Kingdom earlier this month, with various trims levels ranging from £43,895 ($74,800 CAD) to £47,395 ($80,800 CAD).
