Gigas Texas looks to be ramping up – Flyover

Giga Texas is starting to ramp up Model Y production slowly.

A recent flyover via a drone revealed hundreds of vehicles in its parking lot.

As per the video, the factory has produced a variety of colours, including black, blue, white and red. However, we have yet to see the new Midnight Silver Metallic.

According to Tesla’s order page custom Model Y’s ordered today have a delivery date between October 2022 and January 2023.

Currently, the vehicles coming off of Giga Texas have 4680 battery cells. However, as per the Q1 2022 Earnings Call, Tesla plans to switch to the 2170 cells for production for Giga Texas Model Y‘s later this year.

Both Giga Texas and Giga Berlin are in their ramp up stage, and it takes time. Elon Musk estimated that it would take Giga Texas between nine and twelve months to get into high-quality volume production. So that would put Giga Texas in late Q3 or Q4 for that milestone.
