The Fremont Fire Department has responded to calls of a fire at Tesla’s factory this afternoon.
Initial reports indicated there was a heavy column of smoke coming from the north end of the factory that is currently under construction. It has since been learned the fire is located at one of the two Giga Press machines.
The fire was reportedly an oil fire. As a result staff were told to use sand to extinguish the flames and not water.
Firefighters are still on the scene but the fire is contained.
Update: there are no reports of injuries at the scene.
