BMW Canada has announced pricing and availability for their upcoming i4 electric vehicles (EVs), and the entry-level version is competitively priced against the Standard Range Plus (SR+) Model 3.
The 2022 BMW i4 will come in two different variants in Canada. First to arrive in Q1 2022 will be the i4 eDrive40, which will have a starting price of $54,990.
The eDrive40 features is a single rear wheel-drive (RWD) electric motor pushing out 335 horsepower. Based on the more generous WLTP rating schedule it can travel 475km (295 miles) on a full charge. The EPA range has not yet been certified, but expect a number around 400km (248 mile).
Also available will be the i4 M50 with a MSRP of $72,990. This high performance dual motor all wheel-drive (AWD) variant will have 536 horsepower. That extra power means you will only be able to travel 385km (239 miles) on a full change based on WLTP ratings.
Both variants will feature the same 83.9kWh battery pack.
Performance wise the eDrive40 will reach 100km/h in an estimated 5.7 secs, while the i4 M50 cuts that down to 3.9 seconds.
According to BMW Canada, provincial incentives in British Columbia, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Yukon and the Northwest Territories apply to both versions of the i4.
While the price of the eDrive40 is below the $55,000 threshold for the federal iZEV rebate, there is no model below $45,000 that would allow it to qualify for the $5,000 rebate.
