Lucid has announced significant updates to its 2024 Lucid Air lineup. The changes include lower pricing, changes to customization options, while also discontinuing a number of variants. All of the prices announced by Lucid today are for the US market. In a statement to Drive Tesla the company confirmed Canadian pricing will be announced on Wednesday.
Changes to Model Lineup
Lucid’s 2024 Air lineup now offers three trims: Air Pure, Air Touring, and Air Grand Touring. The entry-level Air Pure is now only available in a rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration, with the company opting to ditch the all-wheel drive (AWD) variant, along with new starting price of $77,400. The Air Touring, now starting at $85,900, is the automaker’s midlevel option with AWD. At the top of the line the Air Grand Touring Performance has been discontinued, but the Air Grand Touring lives on. Lucid said pricing and other details on this variant will be announced in early 2024.
UPDATE Dec 6 3:12pm PT: Here is Canadian pricing, which is inclusive of destination, documentation fee and federal air conditioning tax.
Air Pure | $101,800 |
Air Touring | $118,300 |
Air Grand Touring | TBA |
Air Sapphire | $327,300 |
Changes to Customization Options
Based on customer feedback and analyzing how buyers were customizing their cars, Lucid has changed its customization approach. The entry-level Air Pure, for example, allows buyers to opt for features previously only available on higher trims, such as the heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats. Changes were also made to interior options, including the addition of full leather and natural grain trim, as well as new colour schemes like Fathom Blue across the lineup. The Air Grand Touring can now also be configured with a metal roof, instead of the glass roof that was only available previously.
Comfort & Convenience Packages
On the plus side Lucid introduced new Comfort & Convenience Packages, available for the Air Pure and Air Touring trims. These packages include features like a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, soft-close doors, four-zone climate control, power rear window sunshades, power open and close frunk (front trunk), and heated wipers. No pricing was announced for these packages.
The changes to the 2024 Lucid Air lineup come at a time when the company is continuing to struggle to find customers for its car. In its Q3 financial report Lucid lowered its production forecast for the Air due to sluggish sales, now expecting to produce between 8,000 and 8,500 vehicles for the year, a reduction from the already lowered projection of “more than 10,000.” Lucid had delivered 4,267 Air sedans through September and had produced a total of 6,037 EVs.
