Tesla adds Model Y to loaner fleet

The next time you drop your car off at a Tesla Service Center, your loaner could be a new Model Y.

The electric SUV has only been out in the US for a little more than 6 months. Since then it has launched in Canada in June, as well as Mexico last month.

Now it looks like the automaker has started adding the Model Y to its fleet of loaner vehicles at Service Centers.

According to Enginerd32 on Twitter, not only did he receive the loaner Model Y while getting his MCU upgrade for his Model S, but it was also the Performance version.

Unfortunately as Tesla typically does with their Model S loaners, the Performance Model Y was set to CHILL mode according to Enginerd32, which limits the acceleration of their EVs.

In recent Model Y news, several reservation holders in Europe have been told recently their new cars could arrive sooner than expected. Giga Berlin was supposed to begin manufacturing the vehicles in Q3 2021, but customers are being told to expect their deliveries as early as Q1 2021.
