In a race to the finish line, it looks like Giga Texas might beat Giga Berlin and deliver the first Model Ys to customers very soon.
More than 100 newly built Model Ys were spotted parked outside Giga Texas this morning by drone operator Jeff Roberts (@peterdog15).
Not only is this the largest sighting of Austin-made Model Ys, it is also different from the others in that all of them are either under car covers, or in the process of being covered.
UPDATE 2:21pm PST: Roberts has now uploaded the video to YouTube. Check it out below.
It also looks like many of these cars have the 19″ Gemini wheels, which can be seen peeking out from underneath the car covers.
This means these are Long Range variants, and not Performance variants like the batch of Model Ys spotted leaving the factory earlier this week.
As far as we know, Tesla is still waiting for final certifications before it can begin delivering these cars.
But this is a good sign that we may not have to wait much longer until we see them being handed over to lucky new owners.
