Another Tesla Model Y spotted in Ontario with roof rack and cargo basket

The Tesla Model Y has been out in the US for over a month now, with the first deliveries beginning 6 months ahead of schedule. Unfortunately for Canada, we have to wait until mid-2020 for our first deliveries, which may even be extended due to the coronavirus shutdown halting production.

Earlier this year we saw a few sightings of a black Model Y with white interior in Toronto, including a close-up look by Mark (aka Tesla Backseatballer), while the Model Y was charging at the Vaughan Service Centre.

With Canadian deliveries still months away, we now we have our second Model Y spotted in Canada.

Drive Tesla Canada reader and former Tesla employee Rich Canha sent us these photos of the Model Y parked on Ossington Ave on Sunday, April 19, 2020. This is not the same Model Y seen previously, as this one has a black interior. The Tesla employees testing the vehicle in Canada weren’t taken any chances, as Rich noted that Sentry Mode was active and being triggered by people getting a close look at the electric SUV.

What makes this sighting unique is this is the first time a Model Y has been spotted with a cargo basket on the roof racks. Tesla recently released the roof rack as an accessory on the official Tesla Shop. Based on reviews by owners who have purchased the accessory, they are manufactured by Yakima.

The Model Y is available for pre-order now on Tesla’s website. The Canadian prices were recently increased, now starting at $75,990 CAD for the Long Range version, and $85,990 CAD for the Performance variant.
