4680 Tesla Model Y gets Acceleration Boost

Tesla has now enabled the 4680 Model Y to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph faster than before with the addition of the Acceleration Boost upgrade, as reported by Spoken Reviews on YouTube.

The Model Y manufactured at Tesla’s new Giga Texas had two major differences from the units produced at the Fremont factory; the former used the new 4680 battery and had a 0 to 60 mph acceleration of 5 seconds. The Fremont version comes with a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 4.8 seconds.

However, the 4680 Model Y can now go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds after you apply the new Acceleration Boost upgrade made available within the Tesla app. Although the actual time may not be 4.2 seconds.

Tesla says the stock 0 to 60mph time of the 4680 Model Y is 5.0 seconds, not the 4.8 seconds as mentioned in the app. Tesla may still be using the template for the Acceleration Boost intended for the Fremont-made Model Y and simply forgot to, or they haven’t yet updated the figures for the Giga Texas Model Y.
