Tesla Awarded as 2021’s Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Corporate Equality Index has rated Tesla as one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality in 2021.

The HRC rates workplaces on LGBTQ equality and publishes them in its Corporate Equality Index. The factors for a rating depend on Workplace Protections, Inclusive Benefits, Supporting an Inclusive Culture & Corporate Social Responsibility, and Response Citizenship. Each criteria has a set amount of points that it can give or take away from the company.

To ensure that employees of different genders and sexual orientations are treated equally, other similar programs are put into place. For example, workplaces are rated on whether or not their medical benefits are equal among employees of all genders and sexual orientations.

Tesla has received a perfect score of 100 in HRC’s Corporate Equality Index for six consecutive years – a score higher than even veteran carmakers. Ford Motor Co. was rated 80 and General Motors had 90 points. Tesla also had a higher score than Berkshire Hathaway, which only received 20 points.

Tesla’s equality programs meet the HRC’s standards, which rewards them with the title of one of the United States’ best places to work for LGBTQ equality.
