The stories of Tesla dominating vehicle sales, electric or otherwise, continue to roll out after a record-breaking third quarter of 2021.
Drive Tesla has already covered how the Model 3 and newly-introduced Model Y have dominated European markets like Germany.
The dominance also extends to North America where with just two cars Tesla outsold BMW’s entire lineup in Q3 2021.
The latest sales figures show Switzerland is also not immune to the Tesla effect. In the month of September sales for the EV automaker increased by more than 42% over the same month last year to 1,629 units.
The strong performance was enough to be third most popular car brand, even when including brands that only sell internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.
It was also enough to secure the top two spots in overall car sales. With 1,062 Model 3 sales and 567 Model Y sales, Tesla’s market share in the month of September in Switzerland was 8.3%.
The 42% increase in monthly sales compared to September 2020 was in stark contrast to Mercedes Benz which saw sales plummet 44% during the same time period.
