Rumours have been circulating for a few months now that the Model 3 was going to be getting a fairly major refresh.
A few of those rumours were confirmed last night after several new Model 3’s were spotted at Fremont yesterday sporting the new factory black trim.
We also caught a glimpse of the new center console, which now features vegan leather stitching down the sides instead of the current plastic pieces.
That center console was still covered in protective paper, but tonight we get our fist unobstructed look at the new Model 3 center console.

As you can see in the picture, the center console has been reduced from 3 main pieces down to 2, with a completely new matte black finish instead of the old piano black.
There is now only one movable section of the console, with an added chrome lip for grip. The chrome around the cup holders has also been removed.
The phone charging area is no longer covered by a lid that can be opened and closed, and is instead integrated into the console itself. It is likely that the large storage area under the phone chargers is still there, unless Tesla have moved the location of the USB ports underneath and the wireless charger is now hardwired.
We also get a better look at the vegan leather stitching going down the sides of the console.
Our first impression of this new center console is that looks much improved over the current version, and appears to give the Model 3 a more luxury feel that goes along with the price tag.
One big question that remains is if this new console will make its way into the Model Y.
