Tesla Solar Panel subscription option disappears from website

Tesla has recently updated their website to remove the subscription option for solar panel installations, leaving customers to either pay for the green energy solution with cash or through a loan.

The solar panel subscription service has been around since 2019, allowing customers wanting to add renewable energy to their homes to do so with a low monthly fee. The other benefit of the subscription was no high up-front cost to get the system installed, which can easily add up to more than $20,000 for the average home.

Tesla has never released figures around the number of customers that opted for the subscription instead of paying outright. There were either too many, or not enough customers taking advantage of the service as it has now disappeared from the website.

The only payment options that remain are cash or loan.

Unfortunately there are still no options on Tesla’s website to allow Canadians to order either the solar panels or solar roof.

Elon Musk said in February he plans to expand the offerings to Canada in late 2021, but we have yet to see or hear of any updates to indicate that is still the case.
