Tesla Cybertruck design update: it won’t have door handles

While we all wait for the reveal of the final design of the Tesla Cybertruck, Elon Musk has teased one of the updated design features. The Cybertruck will come with no door handles.

Musk provided the update in an early morning tweet when a fan commented how it would be nice if he was able to tease us with even a little bit of information on the futuristic electric pickup truck.

When the Cybertruck was unveiled in November 2019, the prototype on stage featured the same door handles as those found on the current Model S. When the vehicle is moving or parked the door handles sit flush with the body, and then self-present when either pushed or someone approaches the car with the key.

Here is a video of them in action on the night it was unveiled.

There are no Tesla vehicles in the lineup today without door handles, so until Musk unveils the final design we won’t know exactly how they work. The prototype Roadster does give us a hint though as to how the design might be implemented.

We’ll hopefully get the answers soon as Musk said recently an update will likely come in Q2.
