Cadillac is expanding its electric vehicle (EV) lineup with the introduction of the 2025 Optiq, a compact SUV positioned as the entry-level option in Cadillac’s all-electric lineup.
The Optiq marks another addition to the Ultium lineup, General Motors’ (GM) dedicated electric platform that supports various other models such as the Chevrolet Blazer and Equinox EVs, and the new Honda Prologue.
Under the hood, the Optiq is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, supported by an 85-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack that produces an estimated 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. This setup ensures powerful performance, without compromising on range, with Cadillac estimating a range of 300 miles (482km) on a full charge.
Additionally, the Optiq’s DC fast-charging capability can add up to 79 miles (112km) of range in approximately 10 minutes.
Internally, the Optiq boasts a spacious cabin with a large 33-inch diagonal LED display, stretching nearly across the entire dashboard. The interior also features a number of recycled materials for the interior accents, such as the patterned fabric and PaperWood veneer.
Safety and technology features such as GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving, adaptive cruise control, and enhanced automatic parking will all be included as standard.
Pricing for Canada has not yet been announced, but in the US the 2025 Cadillac Optiq will come with a starting price of approximately US$54,000. The Optiq EV will also be eligible for the $7,500 US federal tax credit, bringing the effective price down to US$46,500 for many customers.
The Optiq EV is set to debut in Canadian and American showrooms this fall, with production starting at the same time. It is Cadillac’s fourth EV, following the Lyriq, Celestiq, and Escalade IQ.
