Tesla has started construction of a new Supercharger in Miramichi, New Brunswick, the first new station in the province in four years.
Tesla currently has six Supercharger stations in New Brunswick, with the most recent station to open being the Woodstock Supercharger back in October 2019. A seventh was planned for Campbellton, but that station was removed from Tesla’s list of upcoming locations earlier this year, leaving no stations planned for the province.
Despite no indication from Tesla of a new Supercharger coming to New Brunswick, Tesla has just started construction of a new station in Miramichi. According to photos shared with Drive Tesla by Robert Warren, groundwork has just begun in the parking lot in front of Canadian Tire at the Bridgeview Plaza (2491 King George Highway).
Although construction is still at a very early stage, we know this will be a Supercharger due to the Tesla Energy pallets containing the Supercharger posts inside the fenced area. Based on the amount of land fenced off for construction, and the equipment on site, it looks like this will be a 8 stall station. (Update: added more pictures sent to us by another reader, Ryan Duggan).
Given that Tesla does not have this location listed on their map of upcoming locations, we don’t know when Tesla is hoping to have this station opened by. However, given the state of construction, the Miramichi Supercharger will likely open late in 2023 or early into 2024.
When it does open it will make travelling through the province in a Tesla, and soon non-Teslas, much easier. All of the current Supercharger stations are located along the southern border of New Brunswick, but with Miramichi’s central location it will make driving to some of the northern cities like Bathurst and Campbellton a breeze, especially in the middle of winter.
