Rivian is halting production of its Camp Kitchen module amid a redesign of the R1T accessory.
Rivian recently reached out to those who included the Camp Kitchen with their vehicle pre-order to inform them that the company wants to do a couple more tweaks to the design before delivering the module to customers.
As a result, Rivian is removing the module from R1T pre-orders and will send along an update on the Camp Kitchen in the near future.
The redesign of the Camp Kitchen comes at the same time as the redesign of the powered tonneau cover, which Rivian has also pulled from production following numerous complaints from owners on its faulty operation.
The original Camp Kitchen came in two modules that run on 1,440 watts.
The module included a cooktop, a removable kitchen sink, a 4-gallon water tank and ample counter space.
The add-on has been one of the focal points for Rivian and goes along with their goal to create the ultimate outdoor adventure EVs.
It is unclear what the changes to the Camp Kitchen that Rivian has in mind are.
However, as per the email to those who pre-ordered the Camp Kitchen, the tweaks include updating the Gear Tunnel Shuttle, which was included in the package.
For those who still want to order the Camp Kitchen, Rivian will make the add-on available to the Gear Store once production starts back up.
According to the email (via u/DustyCapt), there is no timeline set on when the Camp Kitchen will become available for order.
