Uber has announced its Comfort Electric program is expanding to Canada, and rolling out to more cities in the United States.
The Comfort Electric program launched back in May allowing customers to specifically request a ride in an electric vehicle (EV) like a Tesla, Polestar, or Ford Mustang Mach-E.
It was initially only available in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Dubai, but as of today it has expanded further.
Starting today Uber says Comfort Electric is available in Canada in Vancouver, British Columbia. Along with the expansion north of the border, the EV-only ride-hailing option is also now available in 23 cities in the US.

Part of the reason the company was able to expand Comfort Electric was due to their partnership with Hertz, which has allowed more than 25,000 drivers on their platform to rent a Tesla.
Drivers who participate in the Comfort Electric program earn more per hour because of the higher fares and gas savings. Uber also offers an additional $1 per ride incentive for each trip completed, giving drivers the opportunity to earn a maximum bonus of $4,000 per year.
According to Uber, EV drivers on the platform have avoided using 5.7 million gallons of gas.
To help those riders who are unfamiliar with Tesla door handles, the company is now providing push alerts with a diagram and instruction on how to open the door.
