Earlier this month the first Tesla Megachargers arrived at PepsiCo subsidiary Frito-Lay’s facility in Modesto, California.
It wasn’t the first time we had seen the new Megachargers as Tesla recently installed a station at Giga Nevada, the same location where the Tesla Semi is currently in limited production.
Over the weekend Tesla and EV enthusiasts The Kilowatts and Zack (@BLKMDL3) ventured out to Modesto to check and see if there had been any progress on the Megacharger installation.
While unfortunately the massive Megacharger pedestals still need to be installed, the pair were able to snap the first photos of the charging handle and connector, and as expected, it is not small.
Not only is the connector large, but the Megachargers themselves are also formobidable. Zack was able to snap this photo of the Megacharger with a porta potty in the background for scale.
According to a quick Google search by Zack, the average portable toilet is 87-91 inches (221-231cm) tall, meaning the Megacharger is just a few inches shy of that height (it is still sitting on a wood pallet).
According to my 5 seconds of google search, an average size portapotty is 87-91 inches (221-231cm). Megacharger is the same size if not a couple inches taller. These are massive! pic.twitter.com/zH2bKfpJbF

Based on information we have received previously, it is not surprising how large the Megacharger, and its connector is. Once activated it will be able to charge at up 1.5MW, 50% higher than originally anticipated.
We will hopefully see the first Tesla Semis be delivered to PepsiCo very soon. According to a source, Tesla is planning to deliver 15 units to the company before the end of the month.
