Residents and visitors to South Florida can now catch a ride to a local rail station in a Tesla Model Y.
Brightline, which offers a privately-run intercity rail route between Miami and West Palm Beach, has announced their new Brightline+ mobility fleet, which includes 15 Tesla Model Ys.
After being forced to shut down in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company is restarting their rail service and offering a new way for customers to get to and from their transit stations.
Brightline+ offers door-to-door rides within a 5-mile radius of Brightline rail stations. Riders can book one of the Model Ys, or one of their electric vans or shuttles through a new mobile app.
The company says it will make Brightline the most integrated multimodal planning and ticketing app in North America.

The Brightline+ service will roll out in phases. Starting today customers can book rides from the rail station to their final destination.
Then on December 1, customers will be able to book rides to and from the station.
The mobile app will provide a real-time arrival estimate at the time of purchase, as well as tracking throughout the journey.
Private rides will cost $10, while shared rides will be free of charge.
