Tesla has released yet another new version of their mobile app on the iOS App Store, updating from version 4.2.0 to 4.2.1 late last night. The release notes are the same as the previous version, but there are a number of changes behind the scenes that will show up soon.
The new app also gives us confirmation of at least three new colours coming to Giga Berlin’s paint shop.

New Giga Berlin Paint Colours
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said Giga Berlin’s revolutionary paint shop will introduce new colours for the Model Y. Hidden in the source code of the app are what are likely to be the first three new colours that will be introduced:
- Deep Crimson Multicoat
- Abyss Blue Multicoat
- Mercury Silver Multicoat
Here is a rough visualization of these new colours thanks to Drive Tesla reader @tesla_adri.
UPDATE: Click here to see renderings of what the new colours will look like on the actual car.
We have already seen examples of the Deep Crimson colour. Musk has been sporting a test version of the paint on his personal Model S, and Tesla also snuck a Deep Crimson Model Y into the Giga Berlin-Brandenburg County Fair factory tour.
Live Sentry Mode Viewing
There are also several other changes related to the upcoming ability to livestream Sentry Mode footage to your mobile device.
According to a decompile of the app by @Tesla_App_iOSÂ on Twitter, you will only be able to view live footage from your mobile device. You will only be able to view saved footage through the in-car viewer.
You can read more detail about the changes below.
Update 4.2.1 has been de-compiled and here's what we've found:
-Some strings have gotten changed/removed for the remote camera viewing. New version is on the right old version is on the left. Good to know the camera live feed cannot be accessed by Tesla. Yay security. pic.twitter.com/PN6PPfUBjz
