Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced in a late night tweet that due to good feedback from the group of testers currently running V10 of the Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta software, a new incremental version, V10.0.1 has started being deployed.

The part of Musk’s tweet that will be of most interest to Tesla owners in the US is that the highly anticipated “button” will arrive next Friday, September 24.
But there will also be a catch and the button won’t immediately get you the new software.
In a later tweet, it was clarified that the button will request permission to assess your driving behaviour using the same data points Tesla uses for its insurance calculator.
If over the 7 days after hitting the button your driving behaviour if “good”, you win the prize of being able to download the software.

Naturally the big question is what aspects of your driving behaviour will be evaluated. According to telemetry data uncovered after reverse engineering the Tesla mobile app, the list is extensive, including:
Musk did not clarify if the evaluation period will be a rolling 7-day period, or if owners will be locked out from requesting access again for a certain period of time if they are deemed not worthy of receiving FSD beta.
Given the rules around who gets the software, it won’t be surprising to see a lot of Tesla owners driving very carefully after next Friday.
