Tesla Model Y supply for Q4 nearly sold out as delivery wait times slip to December

Tesla has increased the price of the Model Y in the US so many times in 2021, it has been difficult to keep track of them all. The most recent price increase last week set the starting price for the Long Range (LR) variant to be $4,000 more expensive than it was earlier this year.

Even with the steady stream of price increases, the automaker has been unable to slow demand for the electric SUV, and the entire supply for the remainder of 2021 is already almost sold out.

According to the Design Studio in both Canada and the US, customers who place an order today for the LR Model Y will have to wait until December to receive their new car.

In their Q2 2021 earnings report, Tesla said they are seeing record demand for their vehicles around the world. They added their deliveries will only be limited by component supply issues and their own production rates as they continue to sell every car they can make.

“With global vehicle demand at record levels, component supply will have a strong influence on the rate of our delivery growth for the rest of this year.”

The supply of Model Y vehicles will increase substantially next year as two new factories come online in Austin, Texas and Berlin, Germany. They reiterated earlier this week they believe they are still on track to have the first Model Y vehicles roll off both production lines before the end of the year.
