Apple Music and TIDAL found in Tesla source code

Two new music streaming services will be coming to your Tesla based on a discovery in the source code of the latest holiday software update.

Well known Tesla hacker @greentheonly revealed the information last night on Twitter, sharing screenshots of both Apple Music and Tidal appearing in the Audio Settings of his Model X.

According to green, both streaming options are not at a stage that they are ready to be added soon, but it is clear Tesla is working to do so in the near future. Based on how far along each source is, he predicts Tidal will be added first, followed by Apple Music.

Obviously the bigger news is the addition of Apple Music. After Spotify was added last year, Apple Music has been the next biggest request from owners. With an estimated 72 million subscribers, it is the second largest music streaming service behind Spotify.

Apple offers three subscription options – Student ($4.99 CAD/month), Individual ($9.99 CAD/month), and Family ($14.99 CAD/month).

CEO Elon Musk first revealed Tidal will be added to the list of music streaming options during the company’s Battery Day event in September. Tidal claims it is “the first global music streaming service with high fidelity sound, hi-def video quality, along with expertly curated playlists and original content.

It has two subscription options – ‘Premium’ at $9.99 CAD/month and ‘Tidal HiFi’ at $19.99 CAD per month.

As you can see from the image, Amazon as a streaming option is also in the works.
