VinFast has introduced a certified pre-owned program in Canada, offering inspected used vehicles with battery-health checks and remaining warranty coverage. The launch comes more than three years after the first Canadian deliveries, as the automaker continues to struggle to gain a foothold in the market.
According to a press release from VinFast announcing the program, each certified VinFast undergoes a 105-point inspection covering mechanical, electrical, cosmetic and battery condition. Vehicles also include a Carfax history report and 24/7 roadside assistance, with any necessary reconditioning performed using genuine VinFast parts.
Buyers also receive whatever remains of the original 10-year/200,000-km vehicle coverage. VinFast also offers a 10-year, unlimited-kilometre high-voltage battery warranty for their certified EVs.
VinFast began delivering the VF 8 to Canadian customers in June 2023. However, the Vietnamese automaker has struggled to establish itself not only in Canada, but also in the U.S. In 2025, the company announced plans to close five of its ten Canadian stores as it adjusted to weaker EV demand and changes to government incentives.
The certified pre-owned program could help attract buyers through lower purchase prices and warranty protection, but whether that translates into stronger demand remains to be seen.
